Our Traditional Inn
The Little Thatch Inn has been a watering hole for well over 40 years, but has been welcoming travellers for far longer. It is purported that Anne Boleyn, Queen at the time, “rested” here in 1535 when passing through Gloucestershire with Henry VIII. After this visit the building was renamed Queen Anne’s Farm.
Our traditional bar has that ‘cosy, welcoming feeling’ locked in its walls. Curl up by the open fire in one of our comfortable armchairs, sample our wide selection of wines, great choice of spirits and real ales. Find a quiet nook in our reading corner and bury yourself in a good book or enjoy a friendly chat with the locals – there are plenty of tales to tell!
We are a LocAle pub, which is a CAMRA initiative promoting pubs stocking locally brewed real ale. We are committed to keeping at least one real ale on tap which is provided by a local brewery no further than 30 miles door to door. We are currently serving Hillside Brewery’s Legless Cow, (11 ½ miles), Prescott Brewery’s Hillside Climb (14 ½ miles) and our stalwart Bath Gem (just over 30 miles away!) – a favourite with the regulars!
Beers are changed regularly – you just need to check our website for details of what’s coming soon. We also have a really good selection (even if we do say ourselves) of locally sourced bottled lagers, beers and ciders, including organic beers from Stroud Brewery and ‘No Brainer’ Cider from Cotswold Cider Company. Enjoy our fabulous range of Tyrell’s crisps including Ludlow sausage & mustard and lobster, chilli and garlic flavours or a crunchy bag of Mr Trotter’s pork scratchings as you savour your pint.
Enjoy the garden
We have a spacious and carefully maintained garden with outdoor tables and a pretty summerhouse. Relax with a cool drink in the summer months and just watch the world, and the traffic, go by.
Unwind in the snug bar
In addition to the traditional bar where you can enjoy a relaxed drink, snack or meal, we also have a cosy and quiet snug. Wander past the main bar through a short corridor and you will find yourself in a haven of peace. Comfy chairs, board games and books to thumb or get lost in. Pop in for a drink and a chat or find a cosy nook and curl up for the afternoon.
A bite to eat
Our full menu is available in the bar, so why not tuck into an award winning hearty pie made locally by one of our great suppliers, Plenty Pies, www.plentypies.co.uk , from seasonal produce. Alternatively you can try a succulent steak or traditional Ploughmans platter with Double Gloucester cheese from local producer, Godsells cheeses, www.godsellscheese.com . If you want something a little lighter why not be tempted by a delicious toasted Panini or sample one of our delicious homemade soups with your choice of sandwich, with ingredients sourced locally.
